EVANGELINE LILLY
biography
Evangeline Lilly’s combination of irresistible, playful charm and natural
talent is earning her a reputation as one of the most promising young actresses
in Hollywood.
Four years ago Lilly was discovered by a Ford talent agent on the streets of
Kelowna, BC. Six months later she moved to Vancouver to attend the University of
British Columbia to study international relations. After appearing in a few
commercials, she chose to give up acting and focus on studying. A couple of
years later, a friend urged her to give acting another shot, and soon thereafter
she landed the non-speaking roles of a corpse in both an episode of “Stephen
King’s Kingdom Hospital” and the film “The Long Weekend.”
Lilly landed her first speaking role on “Lost” and was recently nominated for a
2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.
When not in Hawaii filming the show, Lilly is wholeheartedly devoted to
philanthropy, traveling and gaining a higher knowledge of various cultures
around the world. During her college years, she founded and ran a world
development and human rights committee, and later spent three weeks living under
a grass hut in the jungles of the Philippines. She has been a volunteer for
children’s projects since the age of 14.
Fluent in French, Lilly loves reading, writing, painting, music, nature, staying
active, learning, tea and travel.

QUOTES/ EVANGELINE LILLY
"Probably because I think that being isolated from the Hollywood world of
premieres and red carpet events was probably good for me because I could ease
into those at will and by my own choice. But in other aspects, when it comes to
fanfare Hawaii is nuts and in L.A. they're all so jaded. They don't care. They
see another star and it's like, 'oh yeah, we've seen a hundred of them before.
You're a dime a dozen'. Which is a little bit easier to deal with. "
"Yeah, definitely it's changed. I can't wear scarves and boots and coats and
hats anymore and I miss it like crazy. Of course I do. I'm a good Canadian girl.
I miss all that good stuff. I miss tobogganing and I miss snowboarding, but I've
also learned to surf and I've become a water baby which I used to be relatively
terrified of the water and I kayak all the time now and I'm able to run year
round on the beach which you can't obviously do in Canada. So there is all of
that and it has been really great. "
On how Hawaii has changed the way she dress and live.
"Most people left, so it was myself, Matthew, Jorge and Dominic, three goofy,
out-there guys. So we're in the middle of a parking lot in Kailua, daring each
other to do things. Jorge turns to me and says, 'I'll give you twenty dollars if
you pee in that garbage can. Thirty seconds later, I've got my pants down and my
bum hanging into this garbage can, and he has to give me twenty dollars."
"And it was almost liberating. I kept waiting to wake up and panic that my stuff
was all gone. But I never did. I'm actively trying to resist replacing things.
But I'm in no hurry to clutter my life up again."
About losing her things in the fire 2006.
